Dear Prospective Dartmouth Figure Skater,
We are so excited that you are interested in becoming a member of our team! For us, the Dartmouth Figure Skating Team has been the perfect way to pursue our love of figure skating while succeeding in a rigorous academic curriculum at Dartmouth College.
Members of the Team compete in all levels of freestyle and ice dance in approximately three competitions in the Eastern Collegiate Figure Skating Conference each year, and as a team we have qualified for the National Collegiate Figure Skating Team Championships every year since 2000—and won Nationals a total of six times since then! We have since been featured in Skating magazine multiple times for our accomplishments.
Beyond our success in competition, we have found an amazing and supportive community in our teammates and our amazing coach, Jacki Smith. Both on and off the ice, we are a team where people of diverse skating levels backgrounds come together because of our shared passion for skating.
The Team was founded way back in 1997, and since then we have grown to a group of about 30 skaters. We offer a range of skating opportunities. Our teammates range from skaters who wish to maintain their level of skating with practice ice, to those who wish to move up levels through testing, to those who compete in every level from preliminary through senior freestyle and international dance. For all skaters we offer an opportunity to continue the sport you love at the level you desire in a supportive environment.
Beyond that, the Team has a large and supportive network through the Friends of Dartmouth Figure Skating, which includes alumni, parents, and many other supporters. The support for our Team reaches all around the world!
The Dartmouth Figure Skating Club carries its tradition of excellence and community around campus and in the classroom. If you are a great student, and you love to figure skate, Dartmouth College is for you!
With love and enthusiasm,
Co-Captains Rachel Chang & Jessie Anderson
